Erik Jampa Andersson, MA

Erik Jampa Andersson, MA, is an Environmental Historian, author, and scholar-practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan Medicine. He is a graduate of the Shang Shung Institute School of Tibetan Medicine, where he received a comprehensive education in the Four Tantras (rGyud bZhi), and holds an MA in History from Goldsmiths College, University of London, where his research focused on the intersection of ecology, spirituality, health, and mythology in Tibet and the Himalayas.

In addition to his practical training in Tibetan Medicine, Erik completed a five-month clinical internship in Kathmandu, and has received extensive additional training in Tibetan Medicine, the Yuthok Nyingthig, and related studies from Dr. Nida Chenagtsang.

A long-time member of the Tara Mandala community, Erik first came to Tara Mandala as a young teenager in search of a teacher, with an inexplicable passion for Tibetan Buddhism. He’s been a student of Lama Tsultrim’s ever since, with 20 years of deep engagement with the Dharma and its many interwoven fields of knowledge. He is an authorized teacher with Sorig Khang International, and teaches widely on Tibetan Medicine and Chöd.

Erik’s first book, Unseen Beings: How We Forgot the World is More Than Human (Hay House UK, 2023), explores the causes and conditions of our environmental crisis and potential paths to recovery, guided by cutting-edge research and traditional ecological knowledge.
