Brenda Proudfoot
Before finding Tara Mandala, Brenda was the owner/instructor of a yoga studio in California for 17 years. During that time she studied Yoga and Buddhist philosophy, practiced Shamatha and Pranayama, and worked individually with a Buddhist teacher. Brenda taught weekend yoga retreats that included asana, pranayama, meditation and silence. She also worked with students individually on yoga asana and meditation practices. Additionally, Brenda is trained in Thai Yoga Massage/Therapy and in Manual Lymphatic Drainage. Soon after Brenda began searching for a Buddhist Monastery or Dharma Center, she found Tara Mandala. In March of 2017, she became full-time staff at Tara Mandala as Retreat Manager and Coordinator of the Solitary Retreat Cabins. Brenda is in the Tigers cohort of the Gateway Program and finds that this practice combined with the daily resident evening practices at Tara Mandala meet an internal longing she had been experiencing prior to moving here. Becoming part of the apprentice teacher program is an honor and a challenge that inspires the more intense study and practice that she has asked for in her heart. She is also humbly aware of the vast amount to be learned and integrated into her life. Brenda has her BA in Religious Studies.
