Akiko Oncken

Akiko is a lifelong pilgrim and yogini. Born and raised in Ecuador, she discovered yoga and mindfulness as a teen. After moving to the US, Akiko attended trainings in diverse yoga lineages as well as contemplative and spiritual modalities. This path of exploration led her to teachers such as Lama Tsultrim Allione and Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo. Currently, Akiko is a practitioner in the Magyu Lineage receiving teachings under the guidance of Lama Tsultrim. She is the Program Manager for Tara Mandala. She is authorized by Lama Tsultrim to facilitate the Feeding Your DemonsĀ® process and is an apprentice teacher.Ā Akiko is also a trained economist with an MA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University, and has worked with research and international organizations. She has over 2,000 hrs of yoga training and is a Yoga Alliance 500 hr RYT. She teaches in Sisters, Oregon, and is available for private instruction and facilitation, yoga workshops and retreats. Akiko co-leads Sisters Sangha, a platform in Central Oregon where meditation and mindful techniques are practiced and facilitated. Sisters Sangha also supports the work of Tara Mandala as a local satellite sangha. Akiko resides in Oregon with her husband and three children.
