Dentog Chigma is the main sadhana practice within the Rinchen Trengwa (‘The Mala of Jewels’), the collection of practices in Machig’s Kama (oral) lineage compiled by Karmapa Rangjung Dorje and Karma Chakme. Dentog Chigma literally means ‘Liberation on One Seat.’ This marvelous practice is sung with a melody and accompanied by Chöd drum and bell and also involves mantra accumulations. Dentog Chigma is required for Magyu students and recommended for anyone who is serious about the Chöd lineage. Drüpon Lama Karma studied this practice for many years with his root teacher Lama Naljorpa, the great Tibetan Yogi who escaped to Bhutan and the principle student of the tertön Pegyal Lingpa.

Announcement regarding the Dentog Chigma Retreat with Lama Karma on August 30 – September 3: The Dentog Chigma that is taught as part of the Magyu Program has variations to the Dentog Chigma being taught at this retreat. Therefore, this retreat is not required for Magyu participants, though it presents a great opportunity for those interested in Machig’s profound legacy and Chöd.

From Lama Tsultrim Allione:
“This is the same root text I believe, but due to regional differences, may be practiced slightly differently to the one required for Magyu that was taught to us by Lama Wangdu. I still encourage everyone to attend this retreat to learn this practice that is at the absolute core of Machig’s lineage.”
