What is the role of prana in spiritual practice? How do we cultivate balanced prana? What are signs of balance and imbalance and what can we do when prana gets out of whack?

Prana (known in Tibetan as rlung and in Chinese as qi) is the cosmic force that links body and mind on a thread of breath. Understanding prana circulation is critical to integrating the vitality and insight that arises from practice. Equally vital is the understanding of how disturbances to the flow of prana can arise in the course of spiritual development and how we can modify our practices for regaining balance.

All tantric traditions employ practices involving attention, breath and movement for balancing the flow of prana and maturing one’s subtle body as a vajra or “diamond” vehicle of embodied wisdom. Tantric sadhana facilitates the transformation of negative patterns into positive ones. Balanced prana protects our bodies and minds from the afflictions of our constantly shifting reality and mediates the transmutation of one’s limited human perspective into a divine one.

Through lecture, discourse and practice, retreatants will gain valuable tools and insight for embodied awakening.

This retreat is open to all.
