Chöd Retreat

With Lopön Karla Jackson-Brewer, M.S.

February 28 - March 2, 2014

Location: Urban Dharma 29 Page Avenue, Asheville N.C.

Chöd is a unique blend of the Tibetan Shamanic traditions and the Buddhist tradition of compassion and emptiness. This centuries-old practice is sung and is accompanied by the use of a traditional Chöd drum and bell. Healing comes when fear, fixation, and self-clinging are cut through, based on nurturing not fighting what assails us, giving rise to the awareness of the empty nature of afflictive emotions.  In this retreat we will learn the deeper meaning in this practice, the symbolic meaning of the tools of this practice, and how to sing, drum and use the bell in this transformative sacred practice. The Chöd taught and practiced will be Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Chöd.
