Chöd
With Lama Tsultrim Allione
March 22 - 24, 2013
at Kripalu in western massachusetts
Chöd is a wonderful practice for these difficult times. It brings understanding to the root of our pain and offers a way to heal our negative shadows and strongest addictions. Chöd is a unique blend of the Tibetan Shamanic tradition and the Buddhist teachings of compassion and emptiness. This centuries-old practice is sung in Tibetan and is accompanied by the use of a traditional Chöd drum and bell. Healing comes when fear, fixation, and self-clinging are cut through. The practice is based on nurturing rather than fighting what assails us and gives rise to awareness of the essential empty nature of afflictive emotions.
Required materials: The Chöd practice requires a chöd drum and bell, both of which are available through the Tara Mandala Store at http://dakinibookstore.mybigcommerce.com/. Also recommended is a headlamp or small book-light for night practice and a small stand on which to clip the practice (a dish display rack found in craft stores works well).
The Chöd Retreat is a prerequisite for Kapala Training Level III.
This course meets the qualifications for 20 hours of Continuing Education for Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) and for Licensed Social Workers (LCSWs). Please sign up for CE hours with Kripalu at the time of registration.
